As the world evolves, so must the way we do business. In 2025, B Lab announced significant updates to the B Corp standards, explaining that “As the climate crisis intensifies and societal inequality grows, the need to bring about systemic change is clear.”
The new standards strengthen accountability and transparency. Businesses are now required to take meaningful action across seven key social, environmental, and governance impact areas - up from the previous five. Another major change is the removal of the old points-based system. Instead, all businesses must now meet minimum requirements in all seven impact areas to achieve certification.
These updated requirements will apply to all organisations certifying or recertifying from January 2026 onwards.
